CultraL Privacy Policy

At CultraL we value your privacy and we re-affirm our commitment to protecting your data. That is why we thought it necessary to tell you about the type of information we collect from you, how we collect the information about you, how we use the information and how you provide us with
such information. We also know you would like to know your rights concerning your personal information.

Information Collected by Us

When accessing, utilizing or subscribing to CultraL, we require certain types of information to provide you with optimum services and guarantee smooth operation of the platform. Thus, we collect the following types of information from you:

  • Name (including first name and last name) – This is collected during the sign-up process.
  • Email address: This is collected during the sign up process.
  • Address: This is collected during the sign-up process.
  • Language: This collected during the sign-up process.
  • Gender: This is also collected during the sign-up process.
  • Profile picture: Although optional at sign up, it must be provided before booking an event, or accommodation or confirmation of being a Host or Presenter
  • Phone number: Although optional at sign up, it must be provided before booking an event, or accommodation or confirmation of being a Host or Presenter.
  • Date of Birth: Although optional at sign up it must be provided before booking an event, or accommodation or confirmation of being a Host or Presenter
  • Identity validation such as a valid Identity card for example drivers license or other government-issued ID: Although optional at sign up it must be provided before booking an event, or accommodation or confirmation of being a Host or Presenter. This is to ensure security and avoid fraud when you subscribe for a service or pay for a product with your credit card. Our dedication towards ensuring the safety of your card details or transactions on the platform warrants us to request for proof of identity
  • Any Other Information: This might be required when you use our platform fill in forms, enter contests, complete surveys, post messages to forums, give reviews and engage with promotions. You might also be required to provide financial information such as bank or Credit Card to our third-party payment processing service (PayPal) to complete transactions
  • For your convenience and to invite others to use the platform you might want to import your address book or manually input your contacts information.

Information Collected Automatically

Certain information is collected automatically from your access or use of the CultraL platform. This information is collected through cookies and other tracking technologies designed for mobile applications. You have the option to disable the functionality of the tracking technologies in your device settings, but if you do, we won’t be able to provide certain functions or services to you in its full capacity.

What are cookies?

These are small files containing a string of characters which we store on your computer or mobile device when you visit the CultraL platform.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to administer the platform, analyses trends, to track users’ movements around the platform and to serve targeted advertisements. When you first access the platform, you may receive a message advising you that cookies and similar technologies are in use. By clicking “accept”, closing the message, or continuing to browse the platform, you signify that you understand and agree to the use of these technologies, as described above.

Web Beacons

A web beacon is also known as a “tracking pixel” or “clear GIF,” and it is a clear graphic image that is delivered through a web browser or HTML e-mail, typically in conjunction with a cookie. Web beacons permits us, for example, to monitor how users move from one page within our platform to another, to track access to our communications, to understand whether users have come to our platform from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to measure how ads have been viewed and to improve site performance.

Similar Technologies

Access and usage to certain features of our platform enables us to automatically collect certain information such as user’s geographical location, i.e. country, region, city, latitude & longitude of city, Postal/ZIP code, time zone, connection speed, ISP, domain name, IDD country code, area code, weather station code and name, mobile carrier, elevation and usage type information using a proprietary IP address, mobile device GPS, log data, unique identifiers and device information.

If you do not wish us to collect this information, you should disable or otherwise control the use of location service for different applications through the settings feature of your device.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information in a number of ways as explicitly stated below

  • To provide our services to you;
  • To create and maintain a trusted and safe environment for our services;
  • To comply with the provisions of the law;
  • To access, develop and improve our platform to provide our services to you;
  • To enable communication amongst members of the platform;
  • To perform data analytics;
  • To provide excellent customer service;
  • To verify your identity;
  • To respond effectively and efficiently to your inquiries;
  • To investigate fraud and prevent duplicitous activity, harassment or other types of illegal activities.

Sharing Your Information

Why do we share your information?

While we are devoted to protecting your personal data, there are times we may need to share your information to our service providers, third-parties, affiliates, institutions and partners to enable us to provide our services to you.

When do we share your information?

  • With our service providers to help us with the provision of the Services and our everyday activity, such as to prevent deceitful activity, maintain your CultraL account, verify your identity, process your transactions, conduct internal research and analytical assessments and provide you with customer care services.
  • For marketing initiatives with our service providers, partners and with third parties.
  • In response to legal proceedings or regulatory authorities to comply with the law, a judicial proceeding, subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
  • To safeguard us and others we may release your information when we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegitimate activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of this Policy, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.

If you do not want us to use your details for marketing purposes, and/or to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please contact us by email; info@cultral.com. You will also be able to unsubscribe from any marketing emails we sent to you by using a link provided in the email.

Sharing information between members

To facilitate communication amongst members within the platform, CultraL shares information between members. Information such as username, names, location, reviews, and ratings.

Additional information is shared with Presenters and Hosts when a request for reservation is made such as your name, history of cancellations, and other relevant details. At a later time when reservation is confirmed we will share information such as your phone number to facilitate your attendance at the booked presentation or accommodation.

If you as a Presenter invite another Member to be a Co-Presenter for the Event, you by this action permits the Co-Presenter to see your information including, your name, phone number, email address and location of the said presentation.

Likewise, when an Attendee invites others to an event, this action gives permission to third-parties to see your information including, your name, phone number, email address, and location of the said presentation.

Your Rights (For EEA and UK Members)

You have numerous rights in relation to your personal information which are explained in detail below. You can enforce your rights at any time by contacting us at; info@cultral.com.

Opening Your Data

You can request us to:

Confirm whether we are processing your personal information
Give you a copy of your personal information

Provide you with other information about your personal data such as what data we have, what we use it for, who we disclose it to, whether we transfer it abroad and how we protect it, how long we keep it for, what rights you have, how you can make a complaint, where we got your data from. Our purpose to give you all this information in this privacy policy, however, if anything is blurred, please contact our Data Protection Officer at, info@cultral.com.

To access or receive a copy of your personal information is free except your request is groundless, bogus or excessive, in which case we will charge a reasonable amount in the circumstances. We will let you know of any charges before completing your request.

We aim to respond to you within 4 weeks of receiving your request except it is complex or you have made several requests, in which case we aim to respond within 3 (three) months.

We shall inform you if we are going to take longer than 4 weeks in attending to your request. If we have a lot of information about you, we might ask you if you can tell us what exactly you want to receive. This will help us respond to your request more rapidly.

Correcting your data

You can request that we modify any data which is erroneous or incomplete. This is of course without a fee.

If we have shared the data with anyone else, we will inform them about the modification wherever possible. We aim to deal with requests for modification within 3 weeks; nevertheless, it might take us up to 3 months if your request is complex.

If we cannot attend to your request to modify your data, we shall inform you and explain the reason for our inability to modify the data.

The right to be forgotten
This is not an unfettered right, but you have the right to have your data expunged, free of charge, in certain circumstances.

You can request your data to be expunged where:

  • it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was originally collected or processed;
  • we are processing your data based on your approval, and you withdraw that approval;
  • you object to the processing and we do not have an overriding legitimate interest for continuing;
  • your data has been illicitly processed;
  • your data must be expunged to comply with a legal obligation;
  • If we have shared your data with third parties, we will tell them about the expurgation of your data except if it is impossible.

Restricting the processing of your data

You can ask us to limit the processing of your personal data in some circumstances. This would be done without charge. Again, this is not an unfettered right. If processing is limited, we can store the data and retain enough information to make sure the limitation is respected, but we cannot further process your data.

Objecting to the processing of your data

Objecting to the processing of your data is without charge. Again, it is not an unfettered right, but you can object to our processing of your data where it is:

  • based on the genuine interests ground; or
  • for the purposes of scientific/historical research and statistics.

We will stop processing your personal data unless we have compelling valid grounds for the processing which supersede your interests and rights, or except we are processing the data for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
You can require us to stop using your data for direct marketing purposes. We will stop as soon as we receive your request. There are no exemptions or reasons for us to refuse.

Data Portability

This allows you to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services. It applies where the following conditions are met:

  • provided the personal data to us yourself;
  • we are processing the data either based on your consent or because it is necessary for the performance of a contract; and
  • the processing is carried out by automated means.

We will provide your data without charge in an organized, commonly used and machine-readable form. We aim to provide your data within 4 weeks of receiving your request except it is particularly complex or you have made several appeals, in which case we aim to respond within 3 months. Where we cannot provide the data within the 4 weeks stated above, we shall inform you.

Automated decision making and profiling

You have the right not to be informed of a decision which is based on automated processing and which produces a legal (or similarly significant) effect on you.
We will notify you about any automated decision making that affects you. You have the right to:

  • request human intervention;
  • express your point of view;
  • ask for the decision to be explained; and
  • challenge the decision.

These rights are not unfettered. They do not apply if the decision is:

  • necessary for us to enter into or perform a contract with you;
  • authorized by law or legal authorities (e.g. for fraud prevention); or
  • based on your explicit consent.

Third Part Access to Data

CultraL uses a variety of third-party service providers to help us provide services related to the CultraL Platform. These third-party services have limited access and only use the information for the specific service, including to, validate proof of identity, perform background checks, conduct market, advertisement and related promotional activities.

How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We keep your information as required by applicable laws or regulations and/or in accordance with our in-house policies and procedures for purposes of prevention of sham activities, illicit practices, risk management and security. CultraL will occasionally evaluate the necessity of retention of your data.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Ontario, Canada and any conflict hereunder shall be heard in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

CultraL will continue to update the privacy policy at regular intervals to ensure adherence to relevant regulations, to provide the highest level of protection of your data and to improve the user experience. Members will be informed of these changes by email and by notifications on the Privacy Policy Page.
